85 | Postcard from holiday | Kos, Greece

We went to Greece again. We love its sun, sea, beaches, and food. Extra, I love its colors and atmosphere.  My wife always chooses the final destination, she spends hours (maybe days) behind the computer comparing hotels, flights, transfer options or travel agencies. At the end of this, for me slow and boring process, she gives me 2,3 or 5 options and asks me for a ‘man’ opinion. It weights nothing in her decision hierarchy but it looks nice from her. Isn’t she amazing? Of course she reads a lot of reviews and advices from ‘Lonely planet’ etc. – so we are prepared well. Well, to be honest, she is prepared – I’m a passive consumer with the camera on the shoulder who decides ‘this way’ when we are lost in a country of nobody.

SO, this year’s winner is a small island of Kos. You can cross it in less than one hour by car – from Therma to Kefalos. I won’t write more about the island itself. After visiting Rhodes (with picturesque Lindos and historical UNESCO Rhodes town) last year – posts about it are here and here, Skopelos (with beautiful romantic beach Milia and Scopelos’ harbor), Zakhyntos (with so many amazing places) – Kos looks like a poor neighbour. It isn’t, we just saw a lot before.

Now, we’re staying in a nice typical white/blue/yellow colored hotel close to the village of Kardamena. We’re enjoying water, delicious hotel kitchen – our decision was partly based on its good reviews and sandy beach. Today we built II.WW fighter airplane, yesterday Ferrari – formula 1 and classic Porsche, days before castles, pools, China wall…

Pieces from Kos town – the biggest on the island. The medicine was born here!

We were a pinch late and we came right after it – maybe 5min divided us from this experience. In the next life we’ll be faster for sure :) …on the other side we saw beautiful sundown from small roads  in mountains (I think nicer than from the village – but without anything on the table) Because we were in hurry the tank in our car was almost empty at the end. Fortunately from the village it is 10km downhill and we found the petrol station in the first village… Streets of Zia village | Holiday Kos | Marian Majik Photographer

At the end a few shoots from the island itself.
